How to Register and Manage Virtual Domain Names on Cardano Name Service
Last updated
This guide will provide detailed steps on how to register and manage virtual domain names in the Cardano Name Service. Please note, this function is only available to collaborating projects with reserved domain names and auctioned domain names. Each domain name can have up to 10 virtual domains.
Before proceeding with the steps outlined here, make sure:
You own a project’s reserved CNS or auctioned CNS on the Cardano Name Service.
You have a Cardano wallet address to link with your virtual domain.
Navigate to the CNS list page on the https://cns.space/profile This is where you will manage your parent CNS and its virtual domains.
From the list of CNS, select your parent CNS. This is the reserved or auctioned domain under which you'll create the virtual domains.
Input your desired virtual domain name. The virtual domain name will be a prefix to your existing CNS name. For example, if your parent CNS is hinson.ada
and you want to create a virtual domain for "peter", your virtual domain will be peter.hinson.ada
.
Provide your Cardano wallet address in the designated input field. This will link your virtual domain with your Cardano wallet.
Review the information you've inputted. Once everything is accurate, click on the "Update" button to register your new virtual domain.
After creating your virtual domain, you can manage it from the CNS list page. Here's how:
Go to the CNS list page again. You should see your newly created virtual domain listed under the parent CNS.
Click on the virtual domain you want to manage. This will open up the management options for that specific CNS.
Depending on the management options provided, you can link or unlink a Cardano wallet, modify the virtual domain name, or delete the virtual domain entirely.
After making your desired changes, make sure to save them. Look for a button labeled "Update" and click on it.
Congratulations! You now know how to register and manage virtual domains on CNS. Please remember that the parent CNS owner is the only one who can manage these virtual domains.
